Our Z45s have been to the gym…

The Genie Z45 has been in the gym—it can now lift 454kg (restricted) up from 227kg!

We’ve about to take stock of the Genie Z45 XC, which have the ability to perform a wider range of heavier lift tasks, giving customers the ability to work with up to three people onboard while still leaving room for tools and jobsite materials.

This model also features the unique Genie full-time, positive drive traction and an updated oscillating axle system. The refined oscillating axle system is designed to enhance the machine’s terrainability, particularly on rough terrain or hills, providing the Genie Z-45 XC boom with up to 45% gradeability on undeveloped jobsites. Keeping all four wheels on the ground, this machine will climb better in challenging conditions

Marie Engstrom, Genie Product Manager, says “operators will find that because of its higher capacity capabilities, they will be able to handle a wider range of heavier tasks with just one machine. The fact that operators will need to reload less often will also help them to save time and work more productively.”

A new Depot and new Dinglis!

Two big bits of news for UK Powered Access…

New depot open in Ilkeston

We’ve moved from our Bobbers’ Mill location to a new site in Ilkeston on Quarry Hill Industrial estate: Unit 17, Merlin Way, DE7

4RA. The new depot has more space and better facilities to help us keep our lineup of scissors and booms in top condition.

We now stock the Dingli range

We have invested in the Dingli range to give you that something a little bit extra and in between to ensure all requirements are covered. Dingli machines make for a change from the usual Skyjack, Genie and JLG, and make top-quality machines at the highest specification. We’re taking stock of the 6m Dingli Scissor- in between the low level equipment and 19ft electric scissors, with 4m platform height and 6m working height these are a lovely small addition to the small electric fleet. We’re also getting the 16m Dingli Scissor, which is 1.2m wide, as well as a 11m Dingli Mast Boom, also only 1m wide.
We continue to add new machines and make sure our fleet is up to date and full of new machines, rather than ageing old ones.

Coming soon to join the fleet – 800AJs

We have decided to add JLG 800AJs to our established 80ft family of Manitou’s and Nifty Lifts to add that extra bit of versatility. The 800AJ is a 26m diesel articulated boom lift, and features JLG’s ‘quickstick’ boom design which enhances the lift and lower times of this large working envelope boom. It has 360 degree continuous boom rotation, 130 degree vertical movement of the jib, 4 wheel drive and 110v power to basket.

UK Powered Access adds a Ruthmann T480

We’re reaching new heights here at UK Powered Access, adding a Ruthmann T480 to our fleet. The T480 has a working height of 48m, and a 32m lateral reach, allowing you to get on a whole new level.

The T480 is one of the best truck-mounted cherry pickers in its class, and has has the best performance capabilities in its category available on the market today. One of our favourite features is its unique upright basket, a feature particular to the Ruthmann height-performance series. Compared to other manufacturers, this lets the user reach up to three metres further once the working height goes above 20m. Reach capacity is one of the most integral parts of any powered access machinery, and we think the Ruthmann really goes the distance in this area.

In addition, the boom system can be pivoted at maximum lateral reach without having to be retracted. This means that exceeding the load torque limit is next to impossible with the T480. All movements at the job location are fast, smooth, and circular – not angular. Ruthmann also offer highly developed control technology, greatly enhancing safety and efficiency at the jobsite.

The T480 is currently in the new depot from, and we’re taking bookings now. Call Michelle on 0115 8383 088 now!

New depot opening in Quarry Hill, Ilkeston

Exciting times here at UK Powered Access: as well as adding a Ruthmann T480 truck mount to our fleet, we’re opening a top-line new depot at Quarry Hill Industrial Estate in Ilkeston. The new site has a large warehouse to house our scissor lift fleet, ensuring that they’re kept protected from the wet and cold when they’re not out on hire. We also have more outside space than previously, which will allow us to perform PDIs and maintain machines even more efficiently then before.

Work is well underway to get the building in tip-top condition for all the powered access staff, and we hope it will open so many opportunities for the powered access division, with top-line offices and facilities all-round. We hope to have the depot open and complete the move from Bobbers’ Mill by the end of April.

Christmas how-to with UK Powered Access

It’s only September, yet Christmas preparations are underway already. You may be thinking, where’s the link here? Nobody’s asking for a scissor lift from Father Christmas! Yet when it comes to creating truly impressive Christmas displays, proper access equipment is essential. UK Powered Access are here to help.

Setting up large-scale Christmas decorations is not easy. You may need to get lights, signs and other decorations up in difficult locations. When you combine this access issue with the unpredictable British winter weather, you can see why Christmas may be such a challenge. Thankfully, we have a solution to these struggles, and the solution is powered access.

The benefits of powered access

Powered access platforms are mobile, flexible and suitable for all conditions. Every year, councils and private companies use our truck and van mounts and our cherry pickers to put up lights and installations in places that would otherwise be unreachable. A van mount such as the S125RA 12.5m is perfect for zipping around, quickly putting up some decorations, and moving on. For more rough terrain pursuits, some of our heavy-duty scissor lifts like the Skyjack SJ9250 Rough Terrain lift are also great, being able to access areas that aren’t even on level or stable ground.

Christmas displays keep getting bigger and better. Every year, many town and city centres reach new heights of extravagance due to powerful access equipment. What’s more, you can put up such displays much more quickly than if you used manual, old-style lifting equipment. If you really want to be able to wow with your christmas display, considering the correct access is a must. UK Powered Access has begun taking bookings for the festive period.
